Farah is a multi-award-winning director and editor, fueled by a lifelong passion for filmmaking.
She began her journey at just 9 years old, experimenting with her father’s VHS camera and editing footage on two VCRs. By 19, she had learned to edit on an Avid and was accepted into the prestigious USC Film Production Program. While still an undergraduate, she honed her skills editing student films and directing music videos and short films.
Before transitioning fully into filmmaking, Farah had a brief stint in modeling, gaining experience in front of the camera.Her talent behind the camera earned her an opportunity to work with legendary director Clive Barker at just 20 years old.
After graduating from USC with honors in 2000, Farah’s star continued to rise. She worked closely with Mariah Carey, directing multiple projects and becoming her personal editor. She also collaborated with Prince at Paisley Park and in Los Angeles. Her work led Billboard to name her one of the top ten up-and-coming directors.
Farah’s directorial projects have made waves in the industry, including her first feature-length documentary The Remix: Hip Hop x Fashion, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2019 and won numerous Best Documentary awards before being acquired by Netflix. She also directed the critically acclaimed online docu-series SeeHer: Multiplicity, which earned a Gracie award, Shorty Audience Award, and Gold and Silver Telly Awards.
Her work has taken her to new heights, directing an episode of Hulu’s doc series Rap Caviar Presents and a short documentary, Mamba’s Murals, for the Sports Explains the World series, premiering at Tribeca Film Festival 2023. Most recently, she collaborated with Beyoncé on Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. Currently, Farah is developing a project with Condé Nast.
